Introducing...Pawla Newcat Ferns

Pawla Newcat Ferns, who showed up in our yard and returned again and again over several days, is named in honor of a recently departed actor. There is a sad part to her story, for some other time, but we hope to make her future a safe and happy one. Anyway, in-house cat #7 looks good and seems to be OK with people. We'll see if she is OK with other cats in a few days when she gets out of isolation following her medical ordeal.

Congratulations again!! Just when I thought you'd hit your limit, you surprise me again! I just wonder when you're going to get your "Gypsy" -- the cat who absolutely hates other cats... :) Good luck, Pawla is adorable! Do you know how old she is approximately?

She's a cutie! Are you definitely keeping her or considering taking her to a no-kill shelter? (That's probably a dumb question since you gave her a witty name already.)

Are you going to be okay financially, especially with several of your cats having senior status and knowing how easy it is for them to spread any small thing amongst each other? (Like the recent kitty sniffles epidemic.)

I worry about you guys, especially having taken Harley to the vet today for vavccinations and a blood panel--$400. Plus, he has a bacterial ear infection (I have ear cleanser and steroid drops) and I have to bring him back in 3 weeks. And once he's paid for, it will be time for Casey in December and he'll surely need a dental after that. Ch-ching! I can barely handle it with 2 cats; I don't know how you guys do it with 4, 5, 6, 7!!!

You are right, of course. We had that discussion and after a lot of thought and then more discussion we agreed that we are taking on a big responsibility with Pawla. And it already is changing the dynamic--she was out briefly in gen pop this evening (and boy was Pru spooked!)We will kick and moan when the ch-chings ching a ling. But she had a sad time out there, winter is a-coming in, and she already has our hearts.(We were told by the Dr. that she was pregnant, and we were making all kinds of busy plans to find placement, and then it turns out something we don't understand happened.)The important thing, right now anyway, is that we agree. Kim is sleeping on the floor in the other room to keep her company. She is about 4-5 years, they guesstimated. And though she is very skinny right now, she is eating a lot (to stuff her feelings?) and will soon join the crowd. A personality she definitely has. And a fluffy tail.Ha!
